About Me
Michelle John, PhD, LPC-S, SEP is a licensed psychotherapist specializing in individual & couples therapy using Somatic Experiencing, psychodynamically-oriented, creative therapeutic approaches to the client process. Dr. John maintains a private practice in Austin, Texas.

Dr. John has over twenty years experience as a clinician.

In addition to being a prominent individual and relationship therapist, Dr. John has presented trainings and educational workshops on psychotherapeutic topics such as creativity & depression, vocational motivation, psychoeducational prevention, substance abuse, and the trauma response. She has served as Chair of the Alaska Psychiatric Institute Governing Board, Clinical Supervisor for Southcentral Foundation's Native Alaskan Outpatient Primary Care Center, and Executive Director of 4Rivers Counseling Services serving Native Alaskan communities. Prior to her 9 years in Alaska, Dr. John has had a variety of clinical experiences in New Mexico such as outpatient community mental health, court-ordered mediation, domestic violence shelter, adoption, child & adolescent acute in-patient and day treatment.

Dr. John is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

In addition to being a therapist, Dr. John also full time faculty at The Art Institute of Austin teaching a variety of courses including psychology and career development. As an professional artist in mixed media, MOJO by Dr. John, has been featured as part of the Up Collective gallery, participated in the EAST (East Austin Studio Tours) and she has plans to expand her artistic endeavors to include galleries in Austin, Texas.
